Sylvia Copeland-Murphy is a native of Suffolk, VA where she obtained her early education and training in public speaking. Her portfolio contains professional training and development programs for low-income and at-risk families; housing professionals; church staff; interns; congressional liaison; and community groups.
A matriculation at Norfolk State University advanced her to a Bachelor of Science Degree in Communications with a concentration in Journalism. Sylvia devoted 31 years of service to local public housing authorities as a Community Resource Officer; Workshop/Training Facilitator; and Competent Grant Writer.
As CEO/Founder of SCM VISION, Inc a non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization, Sylvia provides a myriad of outreach programs holistically influencing environmentally and economically disadvantage populations. Her professional development training programs are part of her T.R.U.T.H © Seminars she personally created for the development and training of staff members and interns referred to her office. The seminars comprise thinking techniques, workplace etiquette, and The Real U That Hides acronym for T.R.U.T.H. ©.
Currently, Sylvia is the Assistant Pastor at the Oak Grove Baptist Church in the city of Suffolk, VA where she has established a Cell Ministry, Youth Ministry, Support Groups, the Radio Broadcast Ministry, Conferences, Revivalist, Biblical and Marital Counselor, and the Women's Ministry. Her professional development trainings include Housing Counseling Workshop, Grant Writing Workshop, Team Building Training, and Working with Difficult People Trainings.
Additionally, she serves as a District Representative and Constituent Services Director for the U.S. House of Representatives for Virginia's 4th Congressional District. She manages the local office in the Hampton Roads area.

Sylvia has accomplished numerous achievements but her most notable mention is the Founder of SCM VISION, Incorporated "Pathways From Bondage Program" which caters to the underserved population of low-income families. Perhaps the biggest honor is the publishing of her first book, "Church Inbreed-When the Church Dates the World".
As a breast cancer survivor, Sylvia lives each day as her last.
